Meet Café Sierra Azul: Nestled in the lush El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve in Chiapas, Mexico, this young, vibrant cooperative is making waves. Founded in 2010 by a group of ambitious locals, Sierra Azul is all about creating sustainable futures in coffee—keeping talent rooted in their community instead of seeking opportunities abroad. (Fun fact: One producer even returned from farming in Utah to grow coffee back home!) With over 300 members—mostly young people and women—the co-op empowers its community with better market access, financing, and technical support.
