Boldly sweet. Deeply soulful. Richly rewarding.
This is Rwanda in a cup — grown on the volcanic slopes of the Gakenke district by the Abakundakawa Cooperative, a community that literally means “coffee lovers” and has grown into a powerful force for economic and social resilience in its region. Members hand-pick cherries high on Rwanda’s lush hills, growing coffee that reflects both the land’s fertility and the cooperative’s values.
We roast this lot dark to unlock its richest layers of caramelized sugars, warming spice, and velvety body without losing the sweetness at its core.
Expect a cup that opens with dark caramel and deep molasses, settles into blackstrap richness, and finishes with a hint of dried fruit warmth. The acidity softens into balance, and the body becomes full and comforting. This roast is perfect for anyone who loves coffee with depth, character, and a satisfying finish.
From espresso to French press, this roast brings out the best of the Abakundakawa profile: generosity, clarity, and heart.
